Why Jeff Bezos Likes ‘Messy' Meetings
Jeff Bezos Discusses Leadership and Entrepreneurship #
Jeff Bezos recently shared insights on his approach to leadership and entrepreneurship. He defended his decision to eliminate presidential endorsements at The Washington Post and expressed optimism about the possibility of a second Trump administration.
In discussing his management style, Bezos described himself as a wanderer, applying this mindset to meetings. He confessed to being on time only for the first meeting of the day, as he believes in concluding discussions thoroughly: “I won’t finish a meeting until it’s really finished.”
Addressing the challenges of entrepreneurship, he tackled the question of deriving confidence to create large-scale businesses like Amazon and Blue Origin, noting the journey from vision to realization often lacks clarity at the start.
Bezos also reflected on the emotional demands of building a company, admitting that while it’s crucial to uplift employees during hard times, he’s growing to appreciate expressing emotions like sadness, fear, and anxiety.
When recounting his experience of stepping down as CEO of Amazon in 2021, Bezos likened it to parenting a child into maturity, emphasizing the emotional transition involved in letting go.
